The AudioVibes Repair Book

It told you what's wrong. It didn't tell you what to do.

The fix for every finding AudioVibes AI can return, and, new in the second edition, for everything ABA Phaze Check can report. It sits behind the AudioVibes door of ABA Media Platform, a one-person media studio in Greeley, Colorado.

The reading is exact. Then you're on your own.

Normalizing to -1 dBFS does not clear a true-peak warning. It works on the samples, and the problem lives between them. A broad cut on the master does not fix a resonance. It takes out the note you wanted along with the one you didn't. The problem moves, the session hours go, and the report still says the same thing.

Cover of The Repair Book: the studio's outboard rack lit red and
blue above champagne-gold title type on near-black, and a row of
octave bands with one, in orange, standing out.

What the book is

One page for every finding that isn't a pass, from both tools.

Part One, AudioVibes: twenty-nine pages, 4 critical, 17 warning, 8 note, for the finished mix. Part Two, ABA Phaze Check: fourteen pages, for how the mics and DIs on one source line up before the blend. Phaze Check is a beta, in calibration, and so are the fix, tools and verify sections of its pages. Every page in both parts follows the same eight parts, so you always know where the answer is.

01 · What tripped it

The reading and the threshold, taken from the tool's own code.

02 · What kind of finding

A measured failure, or a style question you're free to answer "on purpose".

03 · What it sounds like

In plain words, so you can hear it before you fix it.

04 · Likely causes

Most common first.

05 · The most likely fix

Step by step, one change at a time.

06 · Tools for the job

What ships with Fender Studio Pro 8, popular third-party plugins, and a free option.

07 · Verify

Which reading should move when you run it again.

08 · The tempting wrong fix

Every finding has one. This is the part forums leave out.

Look inside

The page for a resonance starts in the room, not in the EQ.

W9 · Resonance: one octave stands out

AudioVibes names the octave, not the exact frequency. From the fix:

  1. In the 31.5 and 63 Hz octaves, measure the room with the calibration mic before touching an EQ, and check on headphones.
  2. Find the track: solo sections and watch the spectrum. It is usually one instrument's fundamental or one room's mode.
  3. Cut narrow on that track, not on the master. If it rings only on some notes, use a dynamic EQ band.

…plus the causes, the tools, how to verify the repair, and the wrong fix. In the full book.

Everything it covers

Forty-three findings, forty-three pages.

Every one is listed by what it sounds like in The 29 and The 14, inside the free pages.

What it won't do

A free tool that sells fixes has to earn trust twice.

  • It won't invent problems. No threshold in AudioVibes is ever moved to produce more findings. The book is for sale; the measurements are not.
  • It won't overstate a style call. Findings judged against a genre profile are marked as questions, not verdicts. If the choice was deliberate, the page says keep it.
  • It won't drift from the tool. The book is built from AudioVibes' own code: the triggers, the report's wording and every threshold table come straight from it, and the build refuses to finish if any finding is missing its page. Part Two is bound to Phaze Check's code the same way: the build refuses if the tool stops reporting what a page explains.

What you hand over at checkout

Checkout is run by Payhip, and your card is handled by the payment processor. ABA never sees your full card number. ABA receives the contact details you give at checkout, usually just your email address, and what you bought. It uses them only to deliver the book, send you its updates, and handle a refund. Buyers are not added to any mailing list.

Some repairs are better done in a room built for them. Every page ends the same way: or send it to the ABA studio.
