The source list behind the questions page: what four AI scout agents found on public forums on 9 October 2026, counted and grouped by meaning.
Read the coverage caveat first. Reddit, Quora and Gearspace refused the scouts, so the older forums carry the count and most threads date from 2002 to 2016. The ranking is a guide, not a measure of today’s askers.
Four AI scout agents, one per audience, read public forums on 9 October 2026 for the questions people actually ask. This page is the receipt behind the questions on the questions page: each one carries its count and sample sources.
Rules the scouts worked under: kinds of questions only; no usernames, names, ages of posters or profile details; paraphrased, no quote longer than 10 words; any site that refused was noted and left, not worked around.
Coverage caveat (read first)
- Refused or blocked for all four scouts: reddit.com (blocked on fetch, and reddit-only searches rejected); quora.com (robots rules, or did not surface). Gearspace thread pages failed to load, so Gearspace counts are from thread titles only. Mirror sites of Reddit were offered by search and NOT opened.
- Result: the older forums dominate (HomeRecording.com, R/E/P, KVR, Ableton, Image-Line, VI-Control), and most threads date 2002 to 2016. The ranking is indicative, not a measure of today's mix of askers. Recent wording and the songwriter side are undercounted.
- Counts are instances the scouts actually saw. "Title-only" means the title stated the question and the thread was not opened.

NOTES: gear-buying questions (1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12) are about 47 of 113 instances. The recurring worry is overspending on something the child may drop. Career and college questions come from parents of older teens, framed as fear. Safety questions appear on guide pages, not raw parent posts. Almost no parent asked about professional studio time.

NOTES: the strongest recent cases are "I can hear it's wrong but can't say why" and "I don't know where to start looking". The 2022 poster tied it to not finishing a song, then asked whether to pay a local producer to finish just one track: the stuck-demo buyer. Long-time adult hobbyists appear, one with 20+ years asking whether to give up. Songwriter stuck-demo threads are undercounted with Reddit blocked.
